140 people every content marketer should follow on Twitter

Engaging with influencers is an important part of any content marketing strategy, and more marketers are using social media for influencer marketing.

That’s why we’ve put together a list of 140 Super Awesome Content Marketing Accounts Every Marketer Should Follow – the top professionals everyone in the industry should be keeping up with.

So how did we determine who made the cut? We started by looking at some stats. Pulsar is one of these tools we used to identify some of the biggest content marketing industry influencers. We then assessed the data manually in terms of relevance, interest and engagement on different accounts.

But we weren’t going to let tools dictate the complete list. We also included micro-influencers, many of whom we’ve followed for years or who we know from hearing them speak at conferences or having met them at networking events. They are proof that having high follower numbers is no longer the ultimate metric when it comes to influence. The result is a mixture of well-known industry figures and some lesser-known, handpicked favourites.

Finally, we used Moz’s Followerwonk tool to look at each account’s Social Authority score. This point scale, which ranges from 1 to 100, measures a user’s influential content on Twitter.

We used this score to rank the 140 people we have identified for our list, with Marsha Collier, Alvin Lindsay and Sam Hurley taking the top three spots. The average Social Authority of the list is 56.8, and between them, our 140 Twitterati have nearly 8.7 million followers.
